What Harps does with your voice: nothing you didn't ask for.

Last updated September 2026

This page covers two different things people mean by "privacy": what the Harps app does with your microphone and your transcripts, and what this website does with your visit. They're answered separately below because the answers are different in kind — one is a design decision, the other is a disclosure.

The app

Audio
Never leaves your Mac. Transcription runs on-device, using a model downloaded once at setup. There is no server in the loop for a capture to fail toward.
Transcripts
Saved as plain markdown files in a folder you choose, one file per day. Harps reads and writes that folder; nothing else does unless you point another tool at it.
Kept audio
Off by default. If you turn it on in Settings, audio is kept alongside its transcript and has no further use after transcription — it is not used to improve any model.
Accessibility access
Used only to insert text at the cursor in the app you were using. Harps does not log keystrokes or read the screen beyond that single insertion.
Analytics
None. There is no usage telemetry, no crash reporter phoning home, and no account to create in order to use the app.

This website

The site you're reading this on is static — it has no backend, no database, and no sign-in. It uses Google Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read, nothing more.

If something here turns out to be wrong

This document describes the app as designed. If a future version changes any of the above — audio leaving the device for a better model, for instance — that row changes here first, in the same plain language, before the update ships.
